Your Bright Future

MY Mission

I support both teaching and research activities. I focus on developing and assessing sport and medical technologies. I work with multidisciplinary research framework engaging Engineers, Physiotherapists, Sport Scientists, and Orthopaedic Surgeons. I work with academic and research staff and students together to address sport and clinical needs that are immediately applicable.

Best In Industry

Dr Oren Tirosh is an esteemed biomechanist, with extensive clinical and research experience in integrated human biomechanics. Oren specialises in biomechanics for performance and clinical analysis and injury prevention. He completed his doctorate at Deakin University (Melbourne, Australia), specialising in gait analysis while working at the Royal Children Hospital, and teaching at Swinburne University of Technology. Dr Tirosh provides high precision biomechanical analyses for athletes (running gait and efficiency); patients (orthopaedic and neural injury), and industry (task analysis; ergonomics; risk assessment).

My Support

1. Sport and Exercise Science
I teach the Biomechanics units at the Bachelor of Exercise and Sport Science that is accredited at the level of exercise science which means graduating students are eligible to apply to Exercise and Sport Science Australia (ESSA), who are the national accrediting body, as an Accredited Exercise Scientist (AES).
2. Physiotherapy
I support units in the Master of Physiotherapy that need Biomechanics content in their units. The Master of Physiotherapy program is an accredited and approved program by the Australian Physiotherapy Council and is endorsed by the Australian Physiotherapy Board.
3. Technology & Innovation
I support research and development in innovative technology that is targeted in assessing human movement control and performance. My latest technology development is the TelePhysio app to allow clinicians to tele-assess and monitor patients balance and functional performance.
4. Performance Enhancement
My research support sport performance enhancement development and analysis. Using state of the art equipment I investigate methods to improve performance such as running to reduce injuries and methods to individualise strength programs.

5. Clinical Interventions
I support innovative research in orthopaedic interventions. Using Isokinetic dynamometer, 3D motion capture, force-plates, and wifi EMG I support research in joint replacement, ACL reconstruction, and robotic assisted laparoscopic surgery.
